Color is all around us. Everywhere we look, we see a remarkable array of hues and shades. Most every person has a favorite color, one they prefer over other colors. It’s not surprising to discover that the use of color in advertising can enhance or detract from your marketing message.
Let’s take a look at an example. Red is a powerful color that can be powerful when used in moderation, but overbearing when over-used. Red is the color of passion and action. Use it as an accent color to draw attention to important parts of your site, such as buttons that entice them to purchase or click.
Now let’s take a look at the color red’s polar opposite — green. Green is the color of grass, trees and of course, money. Green indicates a level of safety and offers the quiet assurance that passionate red does not. It also invokes a feeling of abundance. Then there’s blue. Did you know that the color blue acts as an appetite suppressant? It’s an awful color for food-related products, but it’s perfect for the corporate world.
As you can see, different colors have different associations for the human brain. Consult with a knowledgeable graphic designer to create the most effective color scheme for your site.

Web Graphics
Selling over the Internet can be a tricky proposition. For many shoppers, a good description of what they’re considering purchasing is not enough. They need an image that shows them exactly what they will be getting for their money, in great detail.
A clear image or design that represents the item being sold adds a level of realism to your site, and gives customers more confidence in your merchandise or services. By being able to actually see either a photograph or detailed depiction of the goods they’re considering, a customer is more likely to buy those goods.
Even non-tangible items can benefit from good product design. Nowhere is this more evident than in the world of the ebook.
If you’ve ever shopped for an ebook before, you’ve likely noticed that most every ebook on the market is represented by a graphic that looks like a real book.
The reason for this is that human beings are sensory creatures. A simple depiction of a tangible book makes an ebook more appealing. So, next time you’re selling something, remember the importance of tangible product designs.

Today’s physical products, offline products, have packaging that cost thousands of dollars. No one in their right mind would make an offline product and do their graphics and packaging themselves. So why would someone do that for their online product? You might save a few bucks in the beginning, but in the long run people will see your ecover design or web graphics, compare them to offline products, and determine that you are just a rookie. I see all these great sales letters out there, and then I get disappointed by the ecover designs that accompany ebook or software package being sold. Think about it, have you ever seen a salesman come to a presentation wearing old and fuzzy clothing? No, he would be heckled right back out of the building!
Yet this is what thousands of Internet marketers are doing everyday. They dress their sales letters in old, fuzzy, blurry, even decrepit, web graphics. Some people get it…but only half way! These intermediate thinkers have gone out and bought themselves a piece of special software or and add on to their graphics program.
This special ecover design software can be very powerful. However if you don’t have a design bone in your body, it’s just not going to do you the justice you deserve. Your product deserves to be dressed as well as it was created!
